Marcus’s Closet of Care was created in loving memory of Marcus — a son, brother, uncle, and friend whose strength, humor, and determination continue to touch lives even after his passing.
In the later part of his life, after an injury changed how he moved through the world, Marcus relied on medical equipment to maintain his independence. The tools that once supported his journey now serve as the foundation of this closet — a resource built to help others in their own times of recovery, healing, and transition.
Through the generosity of Marcus’s family and community, this space continues his legacy — offering practical support wrapped in care, just as he lived his life.
Who Marcus Was
To know Marcus was to witness resilience. A lifelong athlete, he lived with intensity and drive, always pushing his body — and his spirit — to new limits. Even when his body could no longer respond as it once did, his determination never faltered.
Marcus was more than his strength. He had a quick wit, a kind heart, and a deep loyalty to those around him. He was known for his eye roll and easy smile, for cheering on his teams, and for connecting across generations through laughter and love.
Family was central to Marcus’s life. He cherished his mother, his sister, and his nieces, who filled his days with joy. Raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Marcus carried a lifelong connection to the outdoors — finding peace near the water and in the stillness of nature.

The Closet of Care provides gently used medical equipment, such as walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, and other assistive tools, available for borrowing by individuals and families in need. It is a space that not only supports recovery but also carries forward the values Marcus embodied: grit, humor, loyalty, and heart.
