Values Activity – Bullseye

Your Internal Compass

Navigating Life’s Crossroads with Values-Driven Action

📘 Overview

When challenges like pain, stress, or setbacks arise, it’s easy to focus only on goals or what we “should” do. This guide helps you step back and reconnect with why your actions matter — using values as a compass for direction, not as rigid rules.

🔎 Life Compass Worksheet

Which direction are you headed?

When setbacks happen, we may notice it’s harder to meet expectations or achieve goals. Focusing only on the “what” can leave us feeling like we’ve failed.

Instead, values remind us of the “why”:

  • Working out → for health, strength, or mental well-being
  • Eating well → for energy and vitality
  • Resting → for balance and recovery

Values are directions we can move toward every day, even in small ways.

✏️ Clarifying Your Values

Deep down, what’s important to you? What do you want your life to stand for?

Values are not goals.

  • Goals = milestones we achieve or miss.
  • Values = ongoing directions we live out.

Try reflecting on values in four life domains:

  • Work/Education
  • Personal Growth & Health
  • Relationships
  • Leisure & Play

🎯 The Bullseye Activity

Imagine a dartboard. Place an X in each area to show where you stand today:

  • Center of the bullseye → living fully by your values.
  • Far from center → feeling off track in that area.

This helps you notice where you feel aligned and where you may want to reconnect with what matters most.

🔄 Choice Point Activity

When difficulty shows up, you have a choice:

  • Hooked → actions pulled by struggle, fear, or avoidance.
  • Unhooked → moving toward your values, even in the presence of difficulty.

Ask yourself: “Am I moving toward or away from what I value right now?”

🌱 Next Step

Choose one value that matters today. What is one small, concrete action you can take in the next 24 hours to live it out?
